A spiritual life reinvigorated again. Here’s what happened. Confusion swept me up and knocked me backward. I felt no connection to anything. My spiritual life seriously lacked something and in the midst of trying to figure it out, I believe God spoke to me. He said, “All you need is me”. I had spent so much time trying to meditate and look for signs that it consumed me. My spiritual life consisted of self as the foundation and not God. The realization hit me so hard I began to cry. I asked God for his forgiveness and also for him to reveal himself to me and over a few days he did. My view shifted back toward him. I felt foolish and yet, baffled because I had no clue I went astray. I prayed and acknowledged God but, I looked to myself to fix problems. Through this understanding, I realized my trust in God was not there. It prompted some immediate changes.
My prayer time had increased and it was through prayer God revealed himself. I had often prayed for others when needed. I received a prayer request from a friend to pray for a loved one who was in a coma. I read the message that afternoon but, I did not pray until the evening time. While praying I felt led to pray for his family. A sense of peace fell over me concerning the person I initially was supposed to focus on. A few days later I spoke with my friend. She explained, “He woke up from the coma that evening.” It was there I knew God answered my prayer and that he was all I needed. Sometimes, we get so consumed in finding ourselves when God is who we need to define our life. I fell in love with God all over again and his love consumed me. Love filled my heart and the tears began to flow.
A relationship with God sustains you. Daily prayer and reading His word transforms your life. I look forward to prayer time to express how grateful I am for all that he has blessed me with. I read the bible for guidance and to understand what Jesus and others experienced in their relationships with God. We tend to complicate things when it does not have to be. We should strive to be like Job. He was tempted by the devil and experienced trials and tribulations, but Job stood firm in his faith and trusted God through it all. Your spiritual life does not need to be perplexing. All that is required is a quiet space and your time and God will supply the rest.
My faith is strong and my trust is where it should be. We have to step back and examine ourselves when we are overwhelmed, stressed, and frustrated over mundane things. Romans 8:28 says it best “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…”.
